Visit Nyby, Coastal holiday home in charming surroundings near sea and hiking

Nyby, Söderbykarl, Väddö, Norrtälje

Comfortable and cosy accommodation close to the sea, near hiking on a small farm in country village.

Lovely and quiet, surrounded by forest and pastures and within walking distance of the beach. Relax and enjoy the countryside and local activities or use as a base for exploring Stockholm and Uppsala or even the island of Åland. Welcome to Nyby!

Gamla huset (sleeps 6-7), is a 3-bedroomed house with a large garden and covered patio. The lawn has plenty of room for games and there is a sand pit and a small swing set. The house has 3 bedrooms (one with double bed, one with two single beds, one with 3 single beds), living room with fireplace and TV set. There are two bathrooms with WC (the larger one with shower and washing machine). The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster and kettle.

Torpet (sleeps 2-3), is a very small but charming and comfortable cottage right in the woods behind the coach house. A small bedroom with two beds. Small bathroom with WC and shower. A kitchen cum living room with a small stove and a sofa that converts into a bed if required. In season, you may find wild strawberries and bilberries right outside your door step.

Bed and Breakfast
If you only need accommodation for a night or two we also offer Bed and Breakfast during low-season (mid-august to mid-June). The offer includes bedlinen, towel and light breakfast.

Surroundings
There are plenty of country lanes and forest roads to hike and bike. Beautiful forests with berries and mushrooms when in season. Plenty of flowers and wildlife.

The nearest beach is in Ramviken (1500 metres) which is the Baltic sea. We also have a lake quite near, Rådasjön. About 7 kilometres away. It's a great little beach with sand and it is very suitable for smaller children. There is also a barbeque area and wind break.
The hiking route Roslagsleden passes by this beach and connects with our village.

The nearest larger village is Älmsta (ca 9 km). Here you find a supermarket with post office, pharmacy and bank as well as restaurants and a few shops.

It is possible to use public transport to get to Nyby. The bus from Norrtälje stops just by our lane. It is bus 645 direction Gåsvik and our stop lies just in between the bus stops Norra Rörvik och Gåsviks handel. We are in a ”Hail and Ride” area so have no actual bus stop. Our lane is just at the Nyby road sign.

We have a number of bikes of varying shapes and sizes which are there for you to use. We also have a rowing boat and life jackets for you to explore the bay or try your luck at fishing. In the winter time, we rustle up some skis and even skates if the Baltic is frozen over and safe to walk.

If you are a golfer check out Väddö Golfbana, ca 10 minutes by car and for those of you who bring your own boat there are boat ramps around where you can launch your boat.

We allow pets but need to know in advance. Be sure to inform us when booking.

Stockholm city is approx. 90 min drive (ca 10 mil), till Uppsala, approx. 75 min and Arlanda airport, approx. 75 min drive.

About us

We are an Irish-Swedish family who moved to Roslagen from Dublin, Ireland in 2003. We were more than ready to leave the hectic city life and wanted to try living in the country side.

Chance had us find Nyby and we settled in well thanks to our very helpful and friendly neighbours.

All along we had this old idea of making it possible for more people to experience the Stockholm archipelago. To be able to offer comfortable but reasonable accommodation and to share this amazingly beautiful part of the world. We want to allow people to explore in their own time, experience nature, quiet evenings by the water, clear dark winter skies just filled with stars or early morning walks in the forest with the chorus of birds as backdrop.

We have raised three children here ourselves and we know Nyby is very children friendly. Just the space, the animals, nearness to the beach and dwindling paths in the forest to explore.

Please contact us to let us know if you have special requirements. We will do our best to make your stay pleasant and memorable.

We wish you a warm welcome!

Maria Anderhagen and Sean Holmes
