There is evidence that the road was used in the Middle Ages, but it is probably even quite a bit older. The area’s history can be sensed both visually and in the form of ancient remnants along this part of the Viking trail. Part 4 offers an easy but varied walk along woodland paths and gravel roads passing through lovely old farmyards. Keep an eye open for the beautiful old milestones along the old country road.
This part of the trail is great for biking.
Häverödal is a former railway town by the Rimbo-Sunds railway in Häverö parish, now a part of Norrtälje municipality. Today it is a popular place to settle because of its closeness to Hallstavik as well as the sea and the archipelago. The beautiful old courthouse, now privately owned, is worth a stop. Do not forget to refill your water bottle by the centrally located petrol station before moving on.
Det vackra Häverödals tingshus som idag är privatägt, är klart värt att stanna till vid. Tänk på att fylla på med dricksvatten vid macken i centrum innan du går vidare och proviantera vid affären då det är sparsamt med affärer längs etapp 4.
