Östra Ryds church

The church is beautifully situated on a hill at Kyrkviken close to Rydboholm Castle in the municipality of Österåker. The current church building was built probably around 1430 of Sture Anund, who then owned the land. The oldest part, the sacristy, is from the 1300s.

Östra Ryds church got its present appearance after a comprehensive rebuilding between 1690 to 1693.The church possesses a unique collection of paintings, most of them have been donated by Brahe dynasty.

Train
Take Roslagsbanan from the Technical University to Rydbo station. Walk 2 km or take bus 629 to Östra Ryd kyrkväg and walk 700 m.

Bus
From Technology University take bus 670 towards Vaxholm. Get off at the stop Östra Ryd church and walk 700 m. See www.sl.se. Travel time about 45 min.

Car
E18 from Stockholm to Norrtälje. Turn towards Vaxholm road 274. Turn right at the signs for Östra Ryd church. Travel time 45 minutes.
