The Gimo iron works were built by the crown in 1615 and rapidly developed under Louis de Geer. The current mansion was built between 1763 and 1770 and is one of architect Jean-Eric Rehn’s most important works. These days Gimo mansion serves as a hotel with conference facilities. The annual end of Christ mas celebrations are held on 13
January with a large carnival. The Knutmassomuseet on Bruks gatan displays the gigantic festival masks year round under the stars. There is also a crafts shop and a café.
